Seit langem möchte ich gern Postkarten und Prints von einigen Sachen machen und hier auf meiner Website anbieten. Der Button „Postkarten-Sets“ bei den „Arbeiten“ ist längst eingerichtet und immer noch leer.

Ich bin immer wieder um das Thema herumgeschlichen, weil ich nicht wusste, ob ich dafür ein Gewerbe anmelden muss oder nicht. Und weil „Gewerbe anmelden“ für viele offensichtlich eine echte Hürde darstellt, wie ich beim Herumsurfen lesen konnte.

Also heute mal Fakten. Ich war beim Steuerberater und erzähle, was ich verstanden habe. (Bitte beachtet, dass ich totale Laiin bin, hier vielleicht etwas falsch verstanden habe, so dass meine Infos auf keinen Fall eine fachkundige Beratung darstellen!)

Als Künstlerin muss ich in dem Moment ein Gewerbe anmelden, wo ich Dinge zum Verkauf anbiete, die keine Unikate sind. Wenn ich von meinem Original also Postkarten, Drucke, Kaffeetassen, Bettwäsche drucken lassen will, brauche ich dafür ein Gewerbe. Das allerdings nur, wenn ich meine Sachen selbst vermarkte, nicht, wenn ich das von einer anderen Plattform aus tue.

Gewerbesteuer wird einbehalten, sobald mein Gewinn 24.500,-€ im Jahr übersteigt (da kann ich also seehr viele Postkarten verkaufen…). Dann reduziert sich aber meine Einkommenssteuer um den Betrag der Gewerbesteuer, so dass ich am Ende nicht mehr Steuern als vorher zahle.

Ich konnte keinerlei Nachteil erkennen, warum es für mich besser wäre, kein Gewerbe zu haben und habe bei meiner Gemeinde also einen Gewerbeschein beantragt. Das hat 25,- gekostet.

Jetzt kann ich Kopfkissen und Brillenputztücher bedrucken, so viel ich will. (Ich hab da noch eine wirklich witzige Idee…)

Ich schreibe das alles hier, weil vielleicht manche von Euch ähnliche Fragen zu dem Thema haben. Vor allem aber schreibe ich das, um mir selbst mal in den Hintern zu treten und endlich mit meinen Postkarten-Sets und mit meiner witzigen Idee anzufangen…

For a long time I would like to make postcards and prints of some things and offer them here on my website. The button "Postcard Sets" in the "Works" section has long been set up and is still empty.

I've been skirting around the issue again and again because I didn't know whether I'd have to register a business for it or not. And because "registering a business" is obviously a real hurdle for many, as I could read while surfing around.

So today, facts. I went to see my tax advisor and tell you what I understood. (Please note that I am a total layperson and may have misunderstood something here, so my information is by no means expert advice).

As an artist, I have to register a business the moment I offer things for sale that are not unique. So if I want to print postcards, prints, coffee mugs, bed linen from my original, I need a trade for that. But only if I market my things myself, not if I do it from another platform.

Trade tax is withheld as soon as my profit exceeds €24,500 per year (so I can sell a lot of postcards...). But then my income tax is reduced by the amount of the business tax, so that in the end I don't pay more tax than before.

I could not see any disadvantage why it would be better for me not to have a business, so I applied for a business licence at my local council. That cost 25,-.

Now I can print pillows and spectacle cleaning cloths as much as I want. (I have another really funny idea...).

I'm writing all this here because maybe some of you have similar questions about the subject. But most of all, I'm writing this to kick myself in the butt and finally get started with my postcard sets and with my funny idea....
